Fantasy Name Generator

Roll race-appropriate fantasy names for novels, TTRPGs, and worldbuilding.

Every race has its own sound. Elves get flowing, melodic syllables; dwarves get heavy, resonant ones; orcs get guttural, thrusting patterns. This generator builds names from race-specific syllable banks rather than picking from a fixed list, so you get high variety — and a name that could not have come from another species.

How to use this fantasy name generator

Pick a race or species — elf, dwarf, orc, human, dragon-kin, or fae — and choose a gender if you want the name to lean masculine or feminine. Click Generate to roll a fresh batch of up to 18 names, or Regenerate to roll again. Each result is formed from prefixes, core syllables, and suffixes drawn from that race's bank, so the pool of possible names is effectively huge.

What does each race sound like?

Elves favour long, flowing vowels and soft consonants. Dwarves favour short, stony syllables built around d, g, and r. Orcs are guttural and abrupt. Humans sound familiar and grounded. Dragon-kin carry hard, majestic consonant clusters, while fae names are delicate and slightly whimsical.
